The Assisted Living Registered Nurse is a professional who, under the direction of the Assisted Living Director/Manager and in collaboration with the Director of Nursing (DON) provides Health Care Clinical Professionalism to the household. The Assisted Living Registered Nurse participates in planning, organizing, directing and facilitating the clinical operations of the Assisted Living facility to ensure regulatory compliance, nurture a person-centered and resident directed culture, strengthen the ability of the household to grow as a separate effective home, and promote individual and team learning in the Assisted Living community. The Assisted Living Registered Nurse consults with the Assisted Living Director/Manager, staff, physicians and leadership team regarding nursing concerns and interpretation of community policies to ensure resident needs are met. Maintains performance improvement activities for Nursing Services and participates in QI activities and is responsible for direction and oversight of resident care in the Assisted Living Environment. Provides oversight and encourages mentoring of the LPN's/ Medication Aides to ensure each resident has services appropriate to their needs. Evaluates and coordinates resident care with other nursing staff in the Assisted Living Community.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Initiates the development and implementation of policies and procedures in collaboration with appropriate team members and services.
Participates in planning, decision making, and policy formulation as needed.
Coordinates the completion of the Service and Care Plans as appropriate. (Quarterly, Annually) to accurately describe the resident's plan of care and current status.
Is responsible for the communication, initiation, investigation and completion of resident and family concerns/complaints, along with the Assisted Living Director/Manager to a satisfactory end. Initiates and completes investigation reports to the state in relation to resident incidents and possible abuse allegations, under the direction of the Assisted Living Director/Manager.
Demonstrates leadership through supervision.
Represents Nursing Services on various committees, i.e., Performance Improvement, Medication Review, Management Council, and related Task Forces.
Is responsible for weekly Purposeful Rounding of the households, communication to the community staff, and the Assisted Living Director/Manager.
Participates in the performance improvement functions by collecting and verifying data, as needed.
Ensures an interdisciplinary approach is used to meet the resident's needs.
Treats residents, their families, visitors and co-workers with respect and dignity.
Ensures LPN's/Med Aides understand their leadership role and perform basic assessment as needed for medication administration as well as provide shift supervision for theCNA's.
Creates and maintains an environment that optimizes resident safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
Assists in the Assisted Living staff continuing education and in-service programs, while implementing strong leadership concepts.
Coordinates and directs resident care and education by monitoring care plans and assisting clinical staff to improve the quality of care.
With the Assisted Living Director/Manager, conducts staff meetings on a regular basis.
Exhibits genuine interest in and appreciation of the residents.
Acts as an advocate for the residents within their household.
With the AL Director/Manager provides input to assure proper hiring, orientation, training, clinical competency, coaching, educating, counseling and performance appraisals are maintained in a manner supportive of team and professional standards of practice.
With the AL Director/Manager, guides the household staff to support organizational fiscal viability through efficient and effective use of all resources of the in the household, including maintaining clinical staffing and supply budgets within planned expenditures, maintain staffing patterns consistent with the philosophy, objectives and availability of resources.
Fosters collaboration, consensus and negotiation to address problem solving in the household.
Assures all policies and procedures of the household are maintained, interprets and communicates same to all in the household as needed, with an emphasis on resident, family or designated representative relationships.
Will step in as floor RN when short staffed.
Will work days, evening and nights to monitor AL environment.
Demonstrates the ability to deal with a variety of people, deal with stressful situations, and handle conflict.

Education/Experience Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited college of nursing.
Current Registered Nurse licensure in State of Montana, BSN preferred.
Three (3) or more years of previous experience in long term care nursing preferred.
Assisted Living experience preferred.
Current BCLS certification, Health Care Provider and maintained per Benefis policy.
