Geisinger is seeking experienced Nurse Practitioners and Physician Assistants to join its growing network of Convenient Care clinics, across the state of Pennsylvania. At Geisinger, our innovative ideas are inspired by the communities and families we serve. That's why Geisinger's Convenient Care clinics allow our patients to 'save their spot' to avoid wait times and check in online. Geisinger Convenient Care clinicians diagnose and treat common medical problems including sore throats, earaches, sinus infections, flu, urinary tract infections and more. They also provide routine health exams, immunizations, screenings and wellness services. Some clinics may also include X-ray, EKG, IV hydration, and phlebotomy.
Job Duties
Advanced Practitioners must be able to treat patients from age one to adult, and have six months of primary care, emergency medicine, urgent care or critical care experience. This new, acute care clinic will be opening this spring.
Assesses and establishes a presumptive diagnosis and implements treatment plans for their patient population.
Makes accurate and complete entries into the electronic medical record; orders and interprets diagnostic testing and consults as appropriate and prescribes appropriate medical therapy utilizing evidenced based practice.
Prescribes, adjusts or discontinues medications or therapies as appropriate.
Evaluates and reports to collaborating physician any circumstances or approaches to medical management or test results that present a significant risk to patient's health or well-being.
Performs procedures within the scope of practice of the nurse practitioner or physician assistant license.
Work is performed in a clinical environment, typically with one advanced practitioner per shift. The AP is accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
