Team Lead, Accounting

We're excited to announce the new, Team Lead Accounting role reporting to the Director of Accounting.

The Team Lead position is part of the accounting group within Finance. This role will possess a strong understanding of accounting principles and account analysis and be a vital part of our financial statement close process. You will oversee the work of staff accountants and be involved in strategic departmental decisions. In addition, you are responsible for performing accounting functions and taking part in financial operations.

You will:

• Prepares monthly analysis and reconciliations of balance sheet and income statement accounts and researches discrepancies
• Coordinate and review staff accountants' work, especially for non-complex accounting areas. Ensure closing checklists are completed in a timely manner.
• Assist in accounting reviews of complex estimates
• Provides cross-coverage assistance to other accountants in the General Accounting department by learning day-to-day functions and act as substitute periodically
• Assist in MSK finance operations by creating annual budgets, management reporting, ad hoc requests, assisting in the implementation of new processes, etc.
• Ensure daily finance activities, such as cash posting, capitalization, and system interfaces are completed accurately and effectively.
• Works closely with departments across the organization
• Assist in preparation, review, and analysis of monthly, quarterly or annual financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness. Work with external auditors to ensure correct and timely closing and reporting at year-end.

You are:

• Proven ability to build strong customer relationships
• Project management skills
• Possess strong product knowledge

You have:

• 4-7 years of accounting experience
• Bachelors degree in accounting/ finance or equivalent experience
• Public accounting experience is a plus
• Supervisory experience is a plus
• Knowledge and exposure to not-for-profit accounting and income tax law as it relates to not-for-profit organizations.
