About the Role The Director of Training and Education directs Satellite's educational programs to ensure staff competency at all Satellite Healthcare centers so employees can provide quality care to our patients. The Director of Training and Education is a key contributor to clinical excellence by developing staff in dialysis.
The Director of Education leads the educational department and directs the teaching of all levels of patient care staff. The Director supervises the staff education team. The Director will oversee the management of training and education team members in designated locations, as needed. The Director of Training & Education will work with the Vice President of Training & Education to organize and facilitate the training and competency programs utilized within the Clinical Education Department. This will include, but is not limited to, development of training programs, checklists, and staff competency exams, as well as provision of ongoing continuing education programs. Essential Functions: - Provides and leads program vision and goals, management, guidance, and support for the educational needs of Satellite Healthcare direct care staff; includes designing, testing, orientation and support for new dialysis employees.
- Provides educational curriculum for clinical staff training to meet needs for quality outcomes and regulatory and State requirements
- Integrates the training of SPIN clinical applications within clinical education programs
- Regularly assess staff training and development and measures effectiveness of training
- Identify and respond to feedback processes of the educational programs
- Participate in conferences, seminars, and other events to ensure corporate development of leading-edge programs that reflect current and future trends in the health care arena
- Define core competencies for clinical staff and management; create tools and guidelines for evaluation
- Provides resources to support new clinical education initiatives
- Partners with Human Resources to mentor and advise Clinical Managers at new hire orientation and through ongoing management development programs
- Defines the continuum of services that reflects all options for dialysis therapies; ensures that all patient care staff are knowledgeable about the various options for dialysis therapies; create opportunity for collaboration and learning among all staff
- Provides internal and external leadership activities for professional development of educators
- Partners with Medical Affairs to lead and direct clinical initiatives and quality targets; provide input to Project Manager when planning implementation of clinical initiatives; provide guidance and support to Clinical Manager to implement clinical initiatives and achieve clinical targets.
- Develop educational curriculum for clinical staff training to meet needs for quality outcomes and to meet regulatory and State requirements
- Orchestrate and integrate training and development programs for new clinical sites
- Serve as a consultant to management in program development and enhancement of dialysis staff
- Use staff development as a tool to enhance staff retention and clinical recognition (e.g. clinical ladder)
- Assist with the orientation and support of nurses in conjunction with company transitions and acquisitions
- Support direct reports' career growth
- Maintain open lines of communication with the operation team and provides support with education for identified quality issues

Experience: Five years of management experience; Experience in adult education preferred; Ten (10) years nephrology nursing experience, hemodialysis and home therapies experience preferred Education: - Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing; Master's
degree in Health Services or Nursing Education preferred
License/Certifications: - License/Certification(s): Current California Registered Nurse (RN) license (or within 6 months of hire); CNN credential preferred;
